Abdullah bin Amr bin As reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Allah does not strip knowledge from people after He has granted it to them, but He takes it away by taking the scholars. Each time a scholar passes away, the knowledge he carried departs with him, until only the ignorant remain. People then take ignorant men as their leaders, and when these men are consulted, they issue rulings without knowledge, so they themselves go astray and lead others astray."

حدثنا عبد الرزاق أخبرنا معمر عن الزهري عن عروة

عن عبد الله بن عمرو قال

قال رسول الله ﷺ إن الله لا ينزع العلم من الناس بعد أن يعطيهم إياه ولكن يذهب بالعلماء كلما ذهب عالم ذهب بما معه من العلم حتى يبقى من لا يعلم فيتخذ الناس رؤساء جهالا فيستفتوا فيفتوا بغير علم فيضلوا ويضلوا
