Its isnad is daif, due to the anonymity of the man from Banu Assad who narrated from Ali. Abu Tayah is Yazid bin Humayd Dubi, with the dad vowelized with damma and the ba with fatha. Ahmad said, "Reliable, trustworthy, trustworthy."Abdullah bin Abu Huzayl Anazi is an early, trustworthy successor who narrated from Umar, Ali, and others, but he narrated this hadith from a man who was not named.I did not find this hadith in Majma al-Zawaid nor in the four Sunan collections, but in the Zawaid there is another hadith (2/246) from Ali, that he used to go out when Ibn Tayah called the adhan at the first Fajr, and he would say, "How excellent is this hour for Witr," and so on. Tabarani narrated it in al-Awsat, and it contains a discarded narrator. So this Ibn Tayah was apparently Ali's muezzin.Thawwib is an imperative verb formed from tathwib, meaning the call to prayer, whether the adhan or the iqamah. Its origin is that a man would come seeking help and wave his garment so as to be seen and recognized, and so the call was named tathwib for that reason.
