A man came seeking the Prophet's ﷺ permission to go out for jihad.The Prophet ﷺ asked him, "Are your parents alive?"He replied, "Yes."The Prophet ﷺ said, "Then strive in serving them."
حدثنا وكيع حدثنا مسعر وسفيان عن حبيب بن أبي ثابت عن أبي العباس المكي
جاء رجل يستأذن النبي ﷺ في الجهاد فقال له النبي ﷺ أحي والداك قال نعم قال ففيهما فجاهد
Its isnad is sahih. Waki narrated it from two teachers, Misar bin Kidam and Sufyan Thawri, both of them from Habib bin Abu Thabit. In this isnad, it occurs in H like this, "Waki narrated to us, Hammam narrated to us, from Qatada, from Masaar and Sufyan," and so on. The addition of "Hammam, from Qatada, from" is a plain error, not found in K or M, and it corrupts the isnad by placing two teachers, Hammam and Qatada, between Waki and his teacher Misar bin Kidam, which is not the case. Rather, Qatada is one of Misar's teachers, not one of his students. This hadith is a repetition of 6765. It has already passed as 6544, narrated by Masaar from Habib.
