Its chain of transmission is sahih. Yazid is Ibn Harun. Bayhaqi related the hadith in Sunan al-Kubra (5:28), by way of Nasr bin Ali, from Yazid bin Harun, with this same chain. Daraqutni related it (p. 262) in abbreviated form, by way of Ziyad bin Ayub, from Yazid bin Harun. Haythami mentioned it in Majma al-Zawaid (3:216) and said, Ahmad related it, and it contains Hajjaj bin Artah, about whom there is some discussion, though he has been deemed trustworthy. Zaylai mentioned it in Nasb Raya (3:14), restricting himself to the narration of Abdullah bin Amr bin As, and attributed it to Ishaq bin Rahawayh and Daraqutni.This hadith is in fact two hadiths, one from Abdullah bin Amr and one from Jabir bin Abdullah. Its meaning will come later in the Musnad of Jabir, numbers 14624 and 14668. See also 5111, 5492, and 6390.As for the phrase, "and for the people of Taif, and that is Najd, is Qarn," this is what is established in the L, K, and M copies, and over the word Qarn in copy M there is a mark of correctness. It is also established this way in Bayhaqi's Sunan and in copy H, while in Majma al-Zawaid it reads Qarnan. I consider it most likely that this is due to an alteration by the printer or the copyist, though it is grammatically permissible either with the nominative, taking it as a new independent clause, or with the accusative, taking it as connected by conjunction. Also in Majma al-Zawaid it reads "and for the people of Najd," which contradicts what is established in the original copies of the Musnad, even though he did not attribute it to anyone else.
