Abdullah bin Amr bin As reported,

A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and asked him about the best of deeds.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Prayer."Then the man said, "What else?"He said, "Prayer."The man said again, "What else?"He said, "Prayer," three times.When the man pressed him further, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Striving in the path of Allah."The man said, "But I have two parents."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I command you to treat your parents well."The man said, "By the One who sent you with the truth as a Prophet, I will strive and I will leave them behind."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "You know best."

حدثنا حسن حدثنا ابن لهيعة حدثني حيي بن عبد الله أن أبا عبد الرحمن حدثه أن

عبد الله بن عمرو قال

إن رجلا جاء إلى النبي ﷺ فسأله عن أفضل الأعمال فقال رسول الله ﷺ الصلاة ثم قال مه قال الصلاة ثم قال مه قال الصلاة ثلاث مرات قال فلما غلب عليه قال رسول الله ﷺ الجهاد في سبيل الله قال الرجل فإن لي والدين قال رسول الله ﷺ آمرك بالوالدين خيرا قال والذي بعثك بالحق نبيا لأجاهدن ولأتركنهما قال رسول الله ﷺ أنت أعلم
