I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Whoever keeps a dog, other than a hunting dog or a sheepdog, two qirats will be deducted from his reward each day."
Its chain of transmission is sahih. It is a repetition of 6342 with a similar wording. Muslim also related it, 1:462, through the route of Waki from Hanzala bin Abu Sufyan, with the same wording. It has already appeared through the narration of Imam Ahmad from Waki, 5253.His saying "qiratayn" is thus in the accusative case, functioning as the object, in K and M, and it is marked in M with "correct." In one copy, in its margin, it reads "qiratan," and this is what appears in H.
