The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever endures the hardship and severity of life in it, I will be an intercessor or a witness for him on the Day of Resurrection."
حدثنا عثمان بن عمر حدثنا عيسى بن حفص بن عاصم بن عمر عن نافع
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال من صبر على لأوائها وشدتها كنت له شفيعا أو شهيدا يوم القيامة
Its isnad is sahih. Muslim also related it in his Sahih 1:388, from Zuhayr bin Harb, from Uthman bin Umar, with this same isnad. We noted in the commentary on 4761 that Isa bin Hafs bin Asim has only that one hadith in the Six Books, along with one other hadith about the merit of Madinah. This is that other hadith. The meaning of this hadith has already come up repeatedly through multiple routes, the last of them at 6174.
