The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said on the day of the Confederates, "They distracted us from the middle prayer, the afternoon prayer. May Allah fill their graves and their homes with fire."He then prayed it between the two evening prayers, between Maghrib and Isha.
حدثنا أبو معاوية حدثنا الأعمش عن مسلم عن شتير بن شكل
قال رسول الله ﷺ يوم الأحزاب شغلونا عن صلاة الوسطى صلاة العصر ملأ الله قبورهم وبيوتهم نارا ثم صلاها بين العشاءين بين المغرب والعشاء
Its isnad is sahih. Muslim is Ibn Subayh Hamdani Kufi, a trustworthy tabii. Shutayr bin Shakal bin Humayd Absi Kufi is an early trustworthy tabii. Subayh is in the diminutive form. Shutayr is with a dammah on the dotted shin and a fatha on the taa. Shakal is with the dotted shin and the kaf both carrying a fatha. The meaning of the hadith has already appeared at 591.
