Yazid bin Sharik Taymi reported,
Ali 
addressed us and said, "Whoever claims that we have anything we recite besides the Book of Allah and this scroll has lied." The scroll contained rulings on the ages of camels used in compensation and matters concerning wounds.He continued, "It also contains this saying of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, 'Madinah is sacred territory, the area between Ayr and Thawr. Whoever introduces an innovation in it or shelters one who does so will incur the curse of Allah, the angels, and all people. Allah will accept from him no obligatory worship nor voluntary deed on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever claims descent from someone other than his father, or attaches himself as a client to people other than his rightful patrons, will incur the curse of Allah, the angels, and all people. Allah will accept from him no voluntary deed nor obligatory worship on the Day of Resurrection. The protection granted by the Muslims is one, even the lowest of them may extend it.'"

عن إبراهيم التيمي عن أبيه قال
خطبنا علي رضي الله عنه فقال من زعم أن عندنا شيئا نقرؤه إلا كتاب الله وهذه الصحيفة صحيفة فيها أسنان الإبل وأشياء من الجراحات فقد كذب قال وفيها قال رسول الله ﷺ المدينة حرم ما بين عير إلى ثور فمن أحدث فيها حدثا أو آوى محدثا فعليه لعنة الله والملائكة والناس أجمعين لا يقبل الله منه يوم القيامة عدلا ولا صرفا ومن ادعى إلى غير أبيه أو تولى غير مواليه فعليه لعنة الله والملائكة والناس أجمعين لا يقبل الله منه يوم القيامة صرفا ولا عدلا وذمة المسلمين واحدة يسعى بها أدناهم
Its isnad is sahih. Zayd bin Sharik Taymi, father of Ibrahim, is a trustworthy tabii, and it is said that he lived during the Jahiliyyah.Ayr and Thawr are two mountains. Ibn Athir said in Nihayah 1:139 that Ayr is a well-known mountain in Madinah, while Thawr is known to be in Makkah, containing the cave where the Prophet ﷺ spent the night when he migrated. In a rare narration it appears as "between Ayr and Uhud," and since Uhud is in Madinah, this would mean that Thawr is a mistake by the narrator, even though it is the more famous and more widely transmitted version. It has also been said that Ayr is a mountain in Makkah, in which case the meaning would be that he declared sacred an area of Madinah equal to the distance between Ayr and Thawr near Makkah, or that he declared Madinah sacred with a sanctity like that of the area between Ayr and Thawr in Makkah, following the omission of the governing noun and the use of a description in place of the omitted verbal noun.
