It is reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ met Zayd bin Amr bin Nufayl in the lower part of Baldah, and this was before revelation began coming to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ offered him a meal containing meat, but he refused to eat from it and said, "I do not eat what you slaughter for your idols. I eat only what has been slaughtered with the name of Allah pronounced over it."Abdullah related this from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.
قال حدثنا عفان حدثنا وهيب حدثني موسى بن عقبة أخبرني سالم أنه
عن رسول الله ﷺ أنه لقي زيد بن عمرو بن نفيل بأسفل بلدح وذلك قبل أن ينزل على رسول الله ﷺ الوحي فقدم إليه رسول الله ﷺ سفرة فيها لحم فأبى أن يأكل منها وقال إني لا آكل مما تذبحون على أنصابكم ولا آكل إلا ما ذكر اسم الله عليه وحدث هذا عبد الله عن رسول الله ﷺ
