He traced it back to the Prophet ﷺ, who said, "A man must not sell over the sale of his brother, nor propose for marriage except with his permission," or he said, "unless he gives him permission."
حدثنا يونس حدثني حماد يعني ابن زيد عن أيوب عن نافع
رفعه إلى النبي ﷺ قال لا يبيع الرجل على بيع أخيه ولا يخطب إلا بإذنه أو قال إلا أن يأذن له
