The Prophet ﷺ led the night prayer toward the end of his life, then when he had finished he said, "Do you see this night of yours? At the end of a hundred years from this night, no one who is on the face of the earth today will remain."Abdullah said, "People misunderstood the Prophet's ﷺ statement and went on to relate all sorts of reports about a hundred years. The Prophet ﷺ only said, 'No one who is on the face of the earth today will remain,' meaning by this that that generation would pass away."
Its isnad is sahih. This is a repetition of 5617.Regarding his saying "araaytakum," Ibn Athir said that "araayta" and "araaytakuma" are expressions the Arabs use when inquiring, meaning "tell me," "tell the two of you," or "tell you all," and their taa always carries a fatha. The Hafiz said in Fath al-Bari 1:188-189, "It carries a fatha on the letter taa (the two-dotted one), because it is the pronoun of the person addressed, while the kaf is a second pronoun with no grammatical function. The first hamza is for interrogation, and 'ruyah' here means knowledge or sight, so the meaning is 'did you know' or 'did you see your night,' which is in the accusative case as the object. The answer is omitted, understood to be 'yes.'" He said, "So take note of this precisely.""Araaytakum" also occurs in the sense of inquiry, as in the words of the Almighty, "Tell me, if the punishment of Allah should come to you..." [Anam 6:40] the verse. Zamakhshari said, "The meaning is 'tell me,' and the object of the inquiry is omitted, understood to be 'Whom do you call upon?' Then He rebuked them, saying," "Is it other than Allah that you call upon?" [Anam 6:40] End of quote.See Tafsir Bahr by Abu Hayan, 4:124-127.
