The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade me from three things. I do not know whether the prohibition was specific to me or general for all people. He forbade me from wearing garments made of qassi silk, from using the mithara saddle covering, and from reciting the Quran while bowing in prayer.

Its isnad is daif due to a break in the chain. The narration of Zayn al-Abidin, Ali bin Husayn, from his grandfather Ali bin Abu Talib, is a mursal narration, since he never met his grandfather. So his statement, "that Ali told them," apparently means he told the people who heard from him and who narrated it from him, not that he himself narrated it directly to him. Perhaps this is one of the things that Ata bin Saaib confused, as was discussed previously at 596, for Abu Awana heard from him both during the period when he was sound and during the period when he was confused.Musa bin Salim, Abu Jahdam, is the freed slave of the family of Abbas, and he is trustworthy. In ح it appears as "Ibn Jahdam," which is an error, the correct form being "Abu Jahdam" as it appears in هـ and ك.Abu Jafar is al-Baqir, Muhammad bin Ali bin Husayn.Al-Qassi, with fatha on the qaf, kasra on the doubled sin, and ending in a doubled ya, refers to garments made of linen mixed with silk, brought from Egypt, named after a village on the coast near Tinnis called al-Qass.Al-Mithara is one of the mounts of the non-Arabs, made of silk or brocade. The hadith will come later in full length with another chain of narration at 710, see also 181.
