The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "No one endures the hardship and severity of life in Madinah without my being a witness or an intercessor for them on the Day of Resurrection."
حدثنا عثمان بن عمر أخبرني مالك عن قطن بن وهب بن عويمر عن يحنس
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال لا يصبر أحد على لأوائها وشدتها إلا كنت له شهيدا أو شفيعا يوم القيامة
Its isnad is sahih. Qatan bin Wahb, his reliability was already established at 5372, and his grandfather's name was Uwaymir, as we mentioned there and as is confirmed here. In the Muwatta 3:83 it appears as Umayr, and likewise in Baji's commentary on the Muwatta, 188, and in Zurqani 4:58, where Zurqani said, "In one copy it is Uwaymir." This is a mistake, for when Suyuti gave his biography in Isaf al-Mubatta, he mentioned only the correct form, Uwaymir, and likewise Qadi Iyad did not mention any dispute over it in Mashariq al-Anwar. It is also confirmed correctly in Shaykh Abid Sindi's manuscript of the Muwatta, and likewise in the isnad of this hadith in Sahih Muslim 1:338. And no other opinion about the name of Uwaymir, the grandfather of this Qatan, was mentioned in al-Tahdhib. So it appears to me that this is a corruption that occurred in some copies of the Muwatta that the great scholars of hadith and commentators never examined.
