Ibn Umar used to go to the mosque on Friday and pray several rakahs in which he prolonged his standing. When the imam concluded the prayer, he would return to his home and pray two rakahs. He said, "This is what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to do."
Its isnad is sahih. Abu Dawud (1:438) also narrated it through Ayub from Nafi with a similar wording. Munziri said (1086), Nasai also related it with a similar wording. Muslim, Tirmidhi, Nasai, and Ibn Majah also related it through another route with the same meaning. See 5296, 5688.
