The Messenger of Allah ﷺ addressed the people on the day of the Conquest of Mecca and said, "The blood-money for an intentional killing carried out with a whip or a stick is the heavier kind, one hundred camels, forty of which must be pregnant females carrying their young in their wombs. All blood feuds, claims of wealth, and proud customs of the days of ignorance lie crushed beneath my feet, except for the duty of providing water to the pilgrims and the custodianship of the Kaaba, for I have left these in the hands of those who held them."

أن رسول الله ﷺ خطب الناس يوم الفتح فقال ألا إن دية الخطإ العمد بالسوط أو العصا مغلظة مائة من الإبل منها أربعون خلفة في بطونها أولادها ألا إن كل دم ومال ومأثرة كانت في الجاهلية تحت قدمي إلا ما كان من سقاية الحاج وسدانة البيت فإني قد أمضيتها لأهلها
Its chain of transmission involves a fine point of discussion, covered in detail earlier under number 4583, and the more likely view is that it is sahih. This hadith is an abridged version of that one, and of 4962.Mathurah, with the tha pronounced with either damma or fatha, means a noble deed, because it is passed down, that is, mentioned and recounted, with one generation transmitting it from another as they speak of it.
