The Prophet ﷺ had a gold ring whose stone he used to turn toward the inside of his palm. One day he cast it aside, and his companions then cast aside their own rings. He afterward took a ring of silver, which he used for sealing but did not wear.

كان للنبي ﷺ خاتم من ذهب كان يدخل فصه في باطن كفه فطرحه ذات يوم فطرح أصحابه خواتيمهم ثم اتخذ خاتما من فضة وكان يختم به ولا يلبسه
