The Messenger of Allah ﷺ called out among the people that the prayer was to be held in congregation. When this news reached Abdullah, he hurried off to his family, threw off the clothes he had been wearing, and put on the clothes in which he used to visit the Prophet ﷺ. Then he set out for the prayer ground, where the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had already come down from his pulpit, and the people had gathered facing him.Abdullah asked, "What new ruling has the Prophet of Allah ﷺ given today?"They replied, "He has prohibited nabidh."Abdullah asked, "Which nabidh?"They said, "He prohibited the gourd and the hollowed stump."The narrator said, I asked Nafi, "What about the earthen jar?"He replied, "What is the earthen jar?"I said, "The hantamah."He asked, "What is the hantamah?"I said, "The clay pitcher."He said, "No."I said, "What about the pitch-coated vessel?"He asked, "What is the pitch-coated vessel?"I replied, "The waterskin coated with pitch and the wine-cask coated with pitch."He said, "No. On that day he prohibited only the gourd and the hollowed stump."
