He said, I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Whoever mutilates a living creature and then does not repent, Allah will mutilate him on the Day of Resurrection."
Its isnad is sahih. It is found in Majma al-Zawaid 4:32, where it is stated, "Ahmad narrated it, and its men are trustworthy." It is also repeated at 6:249-250, where it is stated, "Ahmad and Tabarani in Al-Awsat narrated it, from Ibn Umar, without doubt. And the men of Ahmad are trustworthy."As for the phrase "I think he is Ibn Umar," in the original manuscripts it instead reads "that Ibn Umar," as though it were a narration from an unnamed companion, from Ibn Umar. However, in the margin of manuscript M it reads "I think he is Ibn Umar," with a marginal note indicating a variant copy and a correction mark written above it. We have preferred this reading over what is in the original manuscripts, because this hadith will come again at 5956 through the route of Sharik with this same isnad, where it reads "I think he is Ibn Umar," and because this is what is established in Majma al-Zawaid.
