I was sitting when Ibn Umar arrived. A man stood up from his seat for him, but Ibn Umar did not sit in it and instead sat somewhere else.The man said, "What harm would it have been for you to sit there?"Ibn Umar replied, "I would not sit in your place, nor in anyone else's, after something I witnessed from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. A man came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and another man stood up from his seat for him. When he went to sit in it, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade him from doing so."

كنت قاعدا فجاء ابن عمر فقام رجل من مجلسه له فلم يجلس فيه وقعد في مكان آخر فقال الرجل ما كان عليك لو قعدت فقال لم أكن أقعد في مقعدك ولا مقعد غيرك بعد شيء شهدته من رسول الله ﷺ جاء رجل إلى رسول الله ﷺ فقام له رجل من مجلسه فذهب ليجلس فيه فنهاه رسول الله ﷺ
