The Prophet of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever is able to die in Medina, let him do so, for I will intercede for whoever dies there."
حدثنا علي بن عبد الله حدثنا معاذ بن هشام حدثني أبي عن أيوب عن نافع
أن نبي الله ﷺ قال من استطاع أن يموت بالمدينة فليفعل فإني أشفع لمن مات بها
Its isnad is sahih. Ali bin Abdullah is Ibn Madini, who was a contemporary of Imam Ahmad. Hisham, the father of Muaz, is Dastawai. The hadith was narrated by Tirmidhi (4:372,373), who said, this is a hasan sahih gharib hadith from this route, from the hadith of Ayub Sakhtiyani. Ibn Majah also narrated it (2:139), through the route of Muaz bin Hisham, with the same chain. The commentator on Tirmidhi also attributed it to Ibn Hibban in his Sahih, and to Bayhaqi. In the wording of Ibn Majah it reads, "For I will testify on behalf of whoever dies there."
