The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When you meet a pilgrim returning from Hajj, greet him with salaam, shake his hand, and ask him to seek forgiveness for you before he enters his home, for he has been forgiven."

قال رسول الله ﷺ إذا لقيت الحاج فسلم عليه وصافحه ومره أن يستغفر لك قبل أن يدخل بيته فإنه مغفور له
Its isnad is extremely daif, due to the weakness of Muhammad bin Abdul-Rahman bin Bilmani, as we explained in 4910. As for Muhammad bin Harith bin Ziyad bin Rabi Harithi Hashimi, he is a disputed narrator. Ibn Main, Fallas, and others declared him daif, while Ubaydullah Qawariri, Ibn Shahin, and Ibn Hibban declared him trustworthy. It appears that those who declared him daif were actually objecting to hadiths he narrated from Ibn Bilmani. Bundar said, "I have no reservation about him in my heart. The problem lies with Ibn Bilmani." Bazzar said, "He is well known and there is no harm in him. These hadiths only come through him from Ibn Bilmani." This is the view I consider correct, that he himself is trustworthy, especially since Bukhari mentioned him in al-Kabir 1/1/65 without noting any criticism of him, and neither he nor Nasai mentioned him among the daif narrators.The hadith appears in Majma al-Zawaid 4:16, where it is said, "Ahmad narrated it, and it contains Muhammad bin Bilmani, who is daif." This supports our view that the weakness of the hadith comes from Ibn Bilmani, not from Harithi.
