The Prophet ﷺ had a gold ring, and he used to wear it with the stone facing the inside of his palm. One day he threw it away, so the people threw away their rings as well. Then he took a silver ring, which he used for sealing but did not wear.

كان للنبي ﷺ خاتم من ذهب وكان يجعل فصه في باطن يده قال فطرحه ذات يوم فطرح الناس خواتيمهم ثم اتخذ خاتما من فضة فكان يختم به ولا يلبسه
