The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to... In the copy that I read to Abdul-Rahman, it said "Nafi," but he changed it and said, "Abdullah bin Dinar." He used to come to Quba both riding and walking.
Its isnad is sahih. The copy of the Muwatta that Imam Ahmad used to read to Abdul-Rahman bin Mahdi had, in it, "Malik, from Nafi." So when he read it to him, he changed the name of Malik's teacher, making it "from Abdullah bin Dinar" instead. The hadith is in the Muwatta, 1:181, from Nafi, and Ibn Abdul-Barr likewise mentioned it in Taqassi, number 540, saying, "This is how Yahya narrated it, from Malik, from Nafi, from Ibn Umar, and Qanabi followed him in that." A group of the narrators of the Muwatta narrated it from Malik, from Abdullah bin Dinar, from Ibn Umar. It thus appears that Abdul-Rahman bin Mahdi was among this group. This hadith has already been mentioned several times through routes other than that of Malik, from the narration of Nafi at 4585, 5199, and 5219, and from the narration of Abdullah bin Dinar at 4846 and 5218. It will also come right after this, from the narration of Ishaq bin Isa, from Malik, from Nafi.
