Its isnad is extremely daif. Ibn Abu Farwa is Ishaq bin Abdullah bin Abu Farwa. Bukhari said in Tarikh al-Kabir 1/1/396, "The Madani, they abandoned him." Then he said, "Ibn Hanbal forbade narrating his hadith." And in Tahdheeb, from Ahmad, "It is not permissible for me to narrate from him." Some accused him of lying, and the people of Madinah accused him regarding his religion. Ibn Main said, "The sons of Abu Farwa are trustworthy, except Ishaq."Abu Ibrahim Tirmidhani is Ismail bin Ibrahim bin Bassam Baghdadi, and he is trustworthy, a man of sunnah and virtue. Abdullah bin Ahmad said, "He selected some hadiths to bring before my father, then went off, and I was with him, and he read them to him."Ismail bin Ayyash, there is disagreement about him. He is truthful, and the stronger view is that he is trustworthy.Muhammad bin Yusuf is the freedman of Uthman bin Affan, or the freedman of his son Amr, and he is trustworthy.Al-dabha, with the dal vowelled either fatha or damma, means sleeping in the early morning. In Lisan, "And in the hadith, he forbade al-dabha, which is sleeping at the start of the day, because it is the time for remembrance and then the time for seeking one's livelihood."Suyuti mentioned this hadith in Jami Saghir 5129, and also attributed it to Ibn Adi in Kamil and to Bayhaqi in Shuab, from the hadith of Uthman, and to Bayhaqi again in Shuab, from the hadith of Anas. He marked it as sahih, which is a mistake, because all its chains revolve around Ibn Abu Farwa. Munawi took him to task for this in Sharh Kabir 4/232.Qadi Malik Mudarami added a supplement on this in Dhayl Qawl Musaddad 65 and 67, and spoke about it at length, straining himself in some of what he said, to the point that he said of Ibn Abu Farwa, "He was criticized, but he was not accused of lying." This is not sound, for Ishaq was accused of lying, as we mentioned just above.
