The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade making vows and said, "A vow does not avert anything from what has been decreed. It only extracts something from the miser."
حدثنا عبد الرحمن عن سفيان عن منصور عن عبد الله بن مرة
نهى رسول الله ﷺ عن النذر وقال إنه لا يرد من القدر شيئا وإنما يستخرج به من البخيل
Its isnad is sahih. Abu Dawud also narrated it (3:227-228) with a similar meaning, through Jareer bin Abdul-Hameed and Abu Awana, both from Mansur, with the same chain. Munziri said, Bukhari, Muslim, Nasai, and Ibn Majah also reported the hadith, and it will also come again at 5592 and 5994.
