Two men made a sale during the time of the Prophet ﷺ involving a palm tree before its fruit had appeared, but it produced nothing. The Prophet ﷺ said, "On what basis would you consume his wealth?" And he forbade the sale of fruit until its ripeness becomes apparent.

أن رجلين تبايعا على عهد النبي ﷺ نخلا قبل أن تطلع الثمرة فلم تطلع شيئا فقال النبي ﷺ على أي شيء تأكل ماله ونهى عن بيع الثمر حتى يبدو صلاحه
