Ayesha reported,

Abu Bakr sought permission to enter upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was lying on his bed wrapped in Ayesha's cloak. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ granted Abu Bakr permission while remaining in that state, attended to his need, and Abu Bakr left.Then Umar sought permission, and he granted him permission while still in that same condition, attended to his need, and Umar left.Uthman said, "Then I sought permission to enter, and he sat up and said to Ayesha , 'Gather your garments around you.' He attended to my need, and then I left."Ayesha asked, "Messenger of Allah, why did I not see you become concerned for Abu Bakr and Umar as you did for Uthman ?"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "Uthman is a modest man, and I feared that if I gave him permission to enter while I was in that state, he would not be able to convey his need to me."Layth said, and a group of people also reported, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Ayesha , "Should I not feel shy before a man whom even the angels feel shy before?"

حدثنا حجاج حدثنا ليث حدثني عقيل عن ابن شهاب عن يحيى بن سعيد بن العاص أن سعيد بن العاص أخبره أن

عائشة زوج النبي ﷺ وعثمان حدثاه

أن أبا بكر رضي الله عنه استأذن على رسول الله ﷺ وهو مضطجع على فراشه لابس مرط عائشة فأذن لأبي بكر رضي الله عنه وهو كذلك فقضى إليه حاجته ثم انصرف ثم استأذن عمر رضي الله عنه فأذن له وهو على تلك الحال فقضى إليه حاجته ثم انصرف قال عثمان رضي الله عنه ثم استأذنت عليه فجلس وقال لعائشة رضي الله عنها اجمعي عليك ثيابك فقضى إلي حاجتي ثم انصرفت قالت عائشة رضي الله عنها يا رسول الله ما لي لم أرك فزعت لأبي بكر وعمر كما فزعت لعثمان رضي الله عنه قال رسول الله ﷺ إن عثمان رجل حيي وإني خشيت إن أذنت له على تلك الحال أن لا يبلغ إلي في حاجته و قال الليث وقال جماعة الناس إن رسول الله ﷺ قال لعائشة رضي الله عنها ألا أستحيي ممن يستحيي منه الملائكة
