I was with Ibn Umar when he was asked about nabidh prepared in earthenware jars. He said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade it."This troubled me when I heard it, so I went to Ibn Abbas and said, "Ibn Umar was asked about something," and I began to make much of it.He asked, "What was it?"I replied, "He was asked about nabidh prepared in earthenware jars, and he said the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade it."Ibn Abbas said, "He spoke the truth. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade it."I asked, "And what is the jar?"He answered, "Anything made of clay."
Its isnad is sahih. A similar version of this, in brief, has already appeared in the Musnad of Ibn Abbas at 3257 and 3518, narrated by Abu Hadir from Ibn Umar and Ibn Abbas. The hadith of Ibn Umar prohibiting nabidh made in jars has already appeared several times, the last of which was at 5074.
