Rabah reported,

My master gave me a Roman slave-girl in marriage. I had relations with her, and she bore me a black boy like myself, whom I named Abdullah. Then I had relations with her again, and she bore me another black boy like myself, whom I named Ubaydullah.Then a Roman boy belonging to my household, called Yuhannis, became attracted to her. He spoke to her in his own tongue, meaning Greek, and had relations with her. She bore him a red boy who looked like a lizard.I asked her, "What is this?"She said, "This is from Yuhannis."So we brought the case before Uthman bin Affan , and both of them confessed.Uthman said, "If you wish, I will judge between you with the judgment of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ruled that the child belongs to the marriage bed."I think he said that he had them both flogged.

حدثنا يزيد أنبأنا مهدي بن ميمون عن محمد بن عبد الله بن أبي يعقوب عن الحسن بن سعد قال

حدثني رباح قال

زوجني مولاي جارية رومية فوقعت عليها فولدت لي غلاما أسود مثلي فسميته عبد الله ثم وقعت عليها فولدت لي غلاما أسود مثلي فسميته عبيد الله ثم طبن لي غلام رومي قال حسبته قال لأهلي رومي يقال له يوحنس فراطنها بلسانه يعني بالرومية فوقع عليها فولدت له غلاما أحمر كأنه وزغة من الوزغات فقلت لها ما هذا فقالت هذا من يوحنس قال فارتفعنا إلى عثمان بن عفان رضي الله عنه وأقرا جميعا فقال عثمان إن شئتم قضيت بينكم بقضية رسول الله ﷺ إن رسول الله ﷺ قضى أن الولد للفراش قال حسبته قال وجلدهما
