The Prophet ﷺ said, "No man should prevent his womenfolk from going to the mosques."A son of Abdullah bin Umar said, "But we do prevent them."Abdullah replied, "I tell you what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, and you say this?"Abdullah did not speak to him again until he died.

Its chain of transmission is sahih. Umar bin Habib Makki Qass is reliable, Ahmad, Ibn Main, and others considered him reliable. Ibn Uyayna said, "He was our companion, and he had a strong memory." Ibn Hibban said, "He had a strong and precise memory." The hadith carries the same meaning as the one before it.Muslim (1:129) narrated a similar account through Amash, from Mujahid, from Ibn Umar, but did not mention that he cut off his son. This will come again through Amash at 5021. Muslim also narrated something similar through Amr, from Mujahid, naming the son Waqid. Likewise he narrated something similar through Salim, from his father, naming the son Bilal. Then he narrated something similar through Bilal bin Abdullah himself, and Bilal mentioned that he said to his father, "By Allah, we will certainly stop them!" Abdullah said to him, "I say the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said it, and you say, 'We will certainly stop them'?"So it appears that the person in the story is Bilal bin Abdullah bin Umar, since he narrated it himself and told it about himself, and this is supported by the narration of his brother Salim. Whoever said the son was Waqid was mistaken or simply erred. Ibn Hajar agreed with us on this in Fath al-Bari (2:289).
