Abdullah bin Umar reported,

He proposed to a relative of his for his daughter's hand. The mother of the girl favored Ibn Umar, while her father favored an orphan boy under his care. The father married her off to that orphan, so she came to the Prophet ﷺ and told him about it. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Consult women regarding their daughters."

أنه خطب إلى نسيب له ابنته قال فكان هوى أم المرأة في ابن عمر وكان هوى أبيها في يتيم له قال فزوجها الأب يتيمه ذلك فجاءت إلى النبي ﷺ فذكرت ذلك له فقال النبي ﷺ أمروا النساء في بناتهن
