Ubayy sent me to Ibn Umar, so I went and said, "May I come in?"He recognized my voice and said, "My son, when you come to a group of people, say, 'Peace be upon you,' and if they return the greeting, then say, 'May I come in?'"Then he saw his son Waqid trailing his lower garment along the ground and said, "Lift up your garment, for I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Whoever drags his garment out of arrogance, Allah will not look at him.'"

أرسلني أبي إلى ابن عمر فقلت أأدخل فعرف صوتي فقال أي بني إذا أتيت إلى قوم فقل السلام عليكم فإن ردوا عليك فقل أأدخل قال ثم رأى ابنه واقدا يجر إزاره فقال ارفع إزارك فإني سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول من جر ثوبه من الخيلاء لم ينظر الله إليه
Its isnad is sahih. Dawud bin Qays is al-Farra al-Dabbagh al-Madani, whose reliability was already established at 3073. The hadith appears in longer form at 4567, but there it states that the one who was dragging his garment was the son of Abdullah bin Umar, and we noted there the transmission from al-Hafiz that he was Abdullah bin Waqid bin Abdullah bin Umar, whereas here it is Waqid himself. We pointed to this hadith there as well.Muslim narrated in volume 2, page 156, through the route of Abdullah bin Waqid, from his grandfather Ibn Umar, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited dragging the lower garment. What seems clear to me is that Abdullah bin Waqid was present when his paternal grandfather spoke, so the incident was attributed to Waqid on one occasion and to his son Abdullah on another.
