The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade the hantama.Someone asked, "What is the hantama?"He replied, "The clay jar," meaning for nabidh.
حدثنا يزيد أخبرنا شعبة عن جبلة بن سحيم
نهى رسول الله ﷺ عن الحنتمة قيل وما الحنتمة قال الجرة يعني النبيذ
Its isnad is sahih. Muslim narrated it, 2:129, through Muhammad bin Jafar from Shubah. Nasai likewise narrated it, 2:327, through Umaya from Shubah, but there it has Khalid instead of Jabala, which is an error. This same error is also found in the manuscript of Shaykh Abid Sindi of Nasai that I have.I am inclined to think this is a copyist's error, not an error of a narrator, since if it were the latter it would have been mentioned in Tahdheeb and its derivative works along with its correction, and there is no one named Khalid bin Suhaym mentioned in it.The meaning of this hadith has already been given within hadith 4629.
