The Prophet ﷺ used to stand by this pillar, which at that time was the trunk of a palm tree, meaning while delivering the sermon.
حدثنا وكيع حدثنا سفيان حدثنا أبو جناب عن أبيه

Its chain is daif. Abu Janab is Kalbi, that is, Yahya bin Abu Hayya, and he is daif, as we explained at 1136. His father, Abu Hayya, whose name was Hayy, about whom Abu Zura said, "His standing is truthfulness." The hadith will come at greater length at 5886, and this longer version is in Majma al-Zawaid, 180, where it says, "Ahmad narrated it through Abu Janab Kalbi, who is trustworthy, but he practices tadlis, and here he used the ambiguous transmission formula 'an."
