Its isnad is sahih. Asim bin Munzir bin Zubayr bin Awwam is a trustworthy successor (tabii), affirmed as reliable by Abu Zura and others, and he has no narration in the six books other than this hadith, found in Abu Dawud and Ibn Majah, as stated in al-Tahdhib. The hadith is abridged at 4605.Abu Dawud narrated it at 1:24 from Musa bin Ismail from Hammad. Munziri (number 60) said, Yahya bin Main was asked about the hadith of Hammad bin Salama, the hadith of Asim bin Munzir, and he said, "This has a good isnad." It was said to him, "But Ibn Ulaya did not narrate it as a raised hadith?" Yahya said, "Even if Ibn Ulaya did not remember it as such, the hadith still has a good isnad."Abu Bakr Bayhaqi said, "This isnad is sahih and connected."
