Two men from the East came to the Prophet ﷺ and delivered speeches. The people marveled at their eloquence. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, some eloquence is sorcery," or, "Indeed, a portion of eloquence is sorcery."
حدثنا يحيى عن مالك حدثنا زيد بن أسلم سمعت
جاء رجلان من أهل المشرق إلى النبي ﷺ فخطبا فعجب الناس من بيانهما فقال رسول الله ﷺ إن من البيان سحرا أو إن بعض البيان سحر
Its isnad is sahih, and it is in Muwatta 3:149-150. Zurqani attributed it in his commentary, 4:224, to Bukhari, Abu Dawud, and Tirmidhi. Its meaning has already occurred repeatedly in the hadith of Ibn Abbas, the last of which was 3069, and in the hadith of Ibn Masud, 3778 and 4342.
