While we were praying with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, a man among the people said, "Allah is the greatest, exceedingly great, and abundant praise belongs to Allah, and glory be to Allah morning and evening."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, "Who is the one who said such and such?"A man from the group replied, "I did, Messenger of Allah."He said, "I marveled at those words. The gates of heaven were opened for them."Ibn Umar said, "I have never abandoned saying these words since I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say that."
حدثنا إسماعيل بن إبراهيم حدثنا الحجاج بن أبي عثمان عن أبي الزبير عن عون بن عبد الله بن عتبة
بينا نحن نصلي مع رسول الله ﷺ إذ قال رجل في القوم الله أكبر كبيرا والحمد لله كثيرا وسبحان الله بكرة وأصيلا فقال رسول الله ﷺ من القائل كذا وكذا فقال رجل من القوم أنا يا رسول الله قال عجبت لها فتحت لها أبواب السماء قال ابن عمر فما تركتهن منذ سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول ذلك
Its isnad is sahih. Ismail bin Ibrahim is Ibn Ulaya. Muslim narrated the hadith in 1:167 from Zuhayr bin Harb, and Tirmidhi narrated it in 4:287 from Ahmad bin Ibrahim Dawraqi, both of them from Ismail with this isnad. Tirmidhi said, "This is a hadith gharib hasan sahih from this angle." Hajjaj bin Abu Uthman is Hajjaj bin Maysara Sawwaf, whose kunya is Abu Salt, and he is trustworthy according to the scholars of hadith.
