Its isnad is sahih. Abu Dawud 2:74 narrated it from Ahmad bin Hanbal with this same isnad. Munziri said, Bukhari and Muslim narrated it. A similar meaning has already passed in the hadith of Ibn Abbas at 1934, 2321, 2322.This hadith is one of the great foundational principles of Islam for the protection and safeguarding of women, so that they are not exposed to what corrupts their character and violates their honor, because a woman is weak and easily influenced, her mind can be toyed with, until her desire overcomes her.The Muslims of our age have turned away from this, or to put it more precisely, those who call themselves Muslims and claim affiliation with Islam. You see them, as we do, letting their women, whether from the classes called the upper class or from other classes, roam through the lands, going out unveiled and unguarded, even traveling to European and American countries and elsewhere alone, without a mahram accompanying them. They do all sorts of things, and the worst reports come back about them. They feel no restraint and no shame, and there is nothing to hold them back.Indeed, the state itself, which claims to be an Islamic state, sends young women abroad on scholarships to study in foreign countries, while they are in the full bloom of youth and the frenzy of desire, and no one is found to condemn this wrong or command what is right regarding it. Indeed, the scholars of the nation do not stir a finger over this, if I do not go so far as to say that they now see nothing wrong with it, if I do not go so far as to say that some of them have daughters who adorn themselves while on these scholarship trips.Events have occurred that no Muslim could be pleased with. Among the worst of what has happened is that many of those who traveled to the lands of disbelief and atheism, from the highest classes of the nation and from others, apostatized from their religion, following after unbridled desire, and married men from the disbelieving, atheist, pagan peoples of Europe and America, who falsely claim affiliation with Judaism or Christianity. So they chose the wrath of Allah over His good pleasure, they themselves, their families, and whoever approved of them and their conduct.Indeed we belong to Allah, and to Him we shall return.
