The Messenger of Allah ﷺ, Abu Bakr, and Umar used to begin with the prayer before the sermon on Eid.
حدثنا عبدة حدثنا عبيد الله عن نافع
أن رسول الله ﷺ وأبا بكر وعمر كانوا يبدءون بالصلاة قبل الخطبة في العيد
Its isnad is sahih. It was narrated by the group except Abu Dawud, as in al-Muntaqa 1662. Its meaning has already appeared several times in the hadith of Ibn Abbas, the last of them being 3487.
