Whenever a man came to my father Abdullah bin Umar intending to travel, he would say to him, "Come close so I may bid you farewell as the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to bid us farewell." Then he would say, "I entrust to Allah your religion, your trust, and the conclusion of your deeds."
حدثنا أبو معمر سعيد بن خثيم حدثنا حنظلة
كان أبي عبد الله بن عمر إذا أتى الرجل وهو يريد السفر قال له ادن حتى أودعك كما كان رسول الله ﷺ يودعنا فيقول أستودع الله دينك وأمانتك وخواتيم عملك
Its isnad is sahih. Hanzala is Ibn Abu Sufyan bin Abdul-Rahman Jumahi, and he is trustworthy. Waki and Ahmad said, "Trustworthy, trustworthy," and Ibn Main said, "Trustworthy, an authority." Bukhari gave his biography in al-Kabir, 2/1/42.Tirmidhi related the hadith, 3:243, 244, from Ismail bin Musa Fazari, from Saeed bin Khuthaym, with this same isnad, and said, "A hasan sahih hadith, rare in this form, from the hadith of Salim bin Abdullah." His commentator said, "Abu Dawud, Nasai, Hakim, and Ibn Hibban also related it in their two Sahihs."
