The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There has never been a prophet except that he had from among his companions disciples and followers who walked in his footsteps and were guided by his example. Then there came after them successors, rulers who say what they do not do and do what they are not commanded."
حدثنا أبو سعيد حدثنا عبد الله بن جعفر يعني المخرمي قال حدثنا الحارث بن فضيل عن جعفر بن عبد الله بن الحكم عن عبد الرحمن بن المسور بن مخرمة عن أبي رافع قال
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال إنه لم يكن نبي قط إلا وله من أصحابه حواري وأصحاب يتبعون أثره ويقتدون بهديه ثم يأتي من بعد ذلك خوالف أمراء يقولون ما لا يفعلون ويفعلون ما لا يؤمرون
Its chain of transmission is sahih, and this is a repetition of 4379. We already noted this there. Jafar bin Abdullah bin Hakam, in the two original manuscripts, is written Jafar bin Abdullah bin Abu Hakam. The addition of "Abu" is an error, and since I found nothing to support it, I removed it."Hawari" appears this way in J, and likewise in K, but it was clearly corrected to "hawariyyun." What is given here fits with intending the generic sense.
