A man asked him about the hadith of Alqama, and this is that hadith.Abdullah bin Masud came to Abu Musa al-Ashari at his home, and the time for prayer arrived.Abu Musa said, "Step forward, Abu Abdul-Rahman, for you are older in age and more knowledgeable."He replied, "No, you step forward, for we have come to you in your home and your mosque, so you have more right."So Abu Musa stepped forward and removed his sandals. When he finished the prayer, Abdullah said, "What made you remove them? Are you in the sacred valley? I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ pray in both leather socks and sandals."
حدثنا حسن بن موسى حدثنا زهير عن أبي إسحاق
ولم يسمعه منه وسأله رجل عن حديث علقمة فهو هذا الحديث أن عبد الله بن مسعود أتى أبا موسى الأشعري في منزله فحضرت الصلاة فقال أبو موسى تقدم يا أبا عبد الرحمن فإنك أقدم سنا وأعلم قال لا بل تقدم أنت فإنما أتيناك في منزلك ومسجدك فأنت أحق قال فتقدم أبو موسى فخلع نعليه فلما سلم قال ما أردت إلى خلعهما أبالوادي المقدس أنت لقد رأيت رسول الله ﷺ يصلي في الخفين والنعلين
