When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was distributing the spoils of Hunayn at Jiranah, the people crowded around him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There was a servant from among the servants of Allah whom Allah sent to his people, and they struck him and wounded his head." He then began to wipe the blood from his forehead, saying, "My Lord, forgive my people, for they do not know."Abdullah said, "It is as if I can still see the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wiping the blood from his forehead, imitating the man and saying, 'My Lord, forgive my people, for they do not know.'"
حدثنا يونس حدثنا حماد يعني ابن زيد عن عاصم عن أبي وائل
لما قسم رسول الله ﷺ غنائم حنين بالجعرانة ازدحموا عليه فقال رسول الله ﷺ إن عبدا من عباد الله بعثه الله إلى قومه فضربوه وشجوه قال فجعل يمسح الدم عن جبهته ويقول رب اغفر لقومي إنهم لا يعلمون قال عبد الله كأني أنظر إلى رسول الله ﷺ يمسح الدم عن جبهته يحكي الرجل ويقول رب اغفر لقومي إنهم لا يعلمون
