A man from the Ansar spoke words that contained resentment toward the Prophet ﷺ. I could not bear it, so I informed the Prophet ﷺ of what he had said. Yet I would have preferred to ransom myself from having reported it with all my family and wealth.The Prophet ﷺ said, "Musa, peace be upon him, was harmed with more than this, and he bore it patiently."Then he told of a prophet whose people denied him and wounded his face when he came to them with the command of Allah. While wiping the blood from his face, that prophet said, "Allah, forgive my people, for they do not know."
حدثنا عفان حدثنا حماد بن سلمة قال أخبرنا عاصم بن بهدلة عن أبي وائل
تكلم رجل من الأنصار كلمة فيها موجدة على النبي ﷺ فلم تقرني نفسي أن أخبرت بها النبي ﷺ فلوددت أني افتديت منها بكل أهل ومال فقال قد آذوا موسى عليه الصلاة والسلام أكثر من ذلك فصبر ثم أخبر أن نبيا كذبه قومه وشجوه حين جاءهم بأمر الله فقال وهو يمسح الدم عن وجهه اللهم اغفر لقومي فإنهم لا يعلمون
