I was in my house in Kufa when I heard someone at the door say, "Peace be upon you. May I enter?"I replied, "And upon you be peace. Come in."When he entered, I saw that it was Abdullah bin Masud.I said, "Abu Abdul-Rahman, what kind of hour is this for a visit?" This was at the peak of midday. He said, "The day grew long for me, so I thought of someone I could converse with."He began to relate to me from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and I related to him as well. Then he started telling me, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'There will be a tribulation in which the one sleeping will be better than the one reclining, the one reclining will be better than the one sitting, the one sitting will be better than the one standing, the one standing will be better than the one walking, the one walking will be better than the one riding, and the one riding will be better than the one driving his mount hard. All those killed in it will be in the Fire.'"I asked, "Messenger of Allah, when will that be?"He replied, "Those will be the days of slaughter."I asked, "And when are the days of slaughter?"He said, "When a man cannot feel safe from the one sitting beside him."I asked, "What do you command me to do if I live to see that?"He said, "Restrain yourself and your hand, and enter your house."I asked, "Messenger of Allah, what if a man enters my house?"He said, "Then enter your inner room."I asked, "What if he enters upon me in my inner room?"He said, "Then enter your place of prayer, and do this," and he gripped his right wrist with his hand, "and say, 'My Lord is Allah,' until you die in that state."
حدثنا عبد الرزاق قال أخبرنا معمر عن رجل

Its chain of transmission is daif because of the anonymity of Mamar's teacher, but he was identified in the following chain as Ishaq bin Rashid, so it becomes sahih. This will be discussed further on.Alaj: from wuluj (entering). In H it appears as "ilakh," which is a scribal error, and we have corrected it from K.Nahr al-Zaheerah (the peak of midday) - Ibn Athir said, this is when the sun reaches its highest point of ascent, as if it had reached the nahr, which is the upper part of the chest.
