He went repeatedly to Ibn Masud regarding a woman whom a man had married and then died. He mentioned the hadith and said that Jarrah and Abu Sinan stood up and testified that the Prophet ﷺ had ruled on this matter among them, in the case of Ashja bin Rayth, concerning Birwa bint Washiq al-Ashjaiyyah, whose husband's name was Hilal bin Marwan.Affan said that he ruled on this matter among them, in the case of Ashja bin Rayth, concerning Birwa bint Washiq al-Ashjaiyyah, and her husband was Hilal bin Marwan.
Its isnad is sahih, and it repeats what came before it.Hafiz mentioned this hadith in Isabah 6:290, in the biography of Hilal bin Murrah, citing it from the narration of Saeed from Qatada, and he graded it sahih, attributing it to Harith bin Abu Usama, Tabarani, Tahawi, and Ibn Manda. His statement here, "among the Ashja bin Rayth," means among this tribe from which came Barwa bint Washiq al-Ashjaiyyah, they being the descendants of Ashja bin Rayth bin Ghatfan bin Saad bin Qays bin Aylan bin Mudar.
