I rushed, along with others who rushed, to Abdullah concerning the matter of the manuscripts. We entered upon him and a man from the group said, "We have not come to you as visitors, but we came to you when this news alarmed us."He said, "The Quran was revealed to your Prophet ﷺ from seven gates upon seven ahruf," or he said, "letters. The scripture before it used to be revealed from a single gate upon a single letter."

فزعت فيمن فزع إلى عبد الله في المصاحف فدخلنا عليه فقال رجل من القوم إنا لم نأتك زائرين ولكن جئناك حين راعنا هذا الخبر فقال إن القرآن نزل على نبيكم ﷺ من سبعة أبواب على سبعة أحرف أو قال حروف وإن الكتاب قبله كان ينزل من باب واحد على حرف واحد
