Abdullah bin Masud reported,

I came upon Abu Jahl on the day of Badr. His leg had been struck and he had fallen, yet he was still defending himself, fending people off with a sword of his.I said, "Praise be to Allah who has disgraced you, enemy of Allah!"He replied, "Am I anything more than a man killed by his own people?"I began striking at him with a sword of mine that was not up to the task, and I hit his hand, causing his sword to fly from his grip. I picked it up and struck him with it until I killed him.Then I went off until I came to the Prophet ﷺ, feeling as though I were barely touching the ground. I informed him of what had happened.He said, "By Allah, besides whom there is no god?" He repeated this three times.I said, "By Allah, besides whom there is no god."He went out walking with me until he stood over him and said, "Praise be to Allah who has disgraced you, enemy of Allah. This man was the Pharaoh of this nation."Wazad added in it, from Ubayy, from Abu Ishaq, from Abu Ubayda, who said that Abdullah said, "He awarded me his sword as a spoil."

حدثنا وكيع حدثنا إسرائيل عن أبي إسحاق عن أبي عبيدة قال

قال عبد الله

انتهيت إلى أبي جهل يوم بدر وقد ضربت رجله وهو صريع وهو يذب الناس عنه بسيف له فقلت الحمد لله الذي أخزاك يا عدو الله فقال هل هو إلا رجل قتله قومه قال فجعلت أتناوله بسيف لي غير طائل فأصبت يده فندر سيفه فأخذته فضربته به حتى قتلته قال ثم خرجت حتى أتيت النبي ﷺ كأنما أقل من الأرض فأخبرته فقال آلله الذي لا إله إلا هو قال فرددها ثلاثا قال قلت آلله الذي لا إله إلا هو قال فخرج يمشي معي حتى قام عليه فقال الحمد لله الذي أخزاك يا عدو الله هذا كان فرعون هذه الأمة قال وزاد فيه أبي عن أبي إسحاق عن أبي عبيدة قال قال عبد الله فنفلني سيفه
