A man came to Abu Musa and Salman bin Rabia and asked them about the inheritance of a daughter, a son's daughter, and a sister. They said, "The daughter receives half and the sister receives half. Go to Abdullah, for he will agree with us."So the man went to Abdullah and told him what they had said. Abdullah replied, "I would have gone astray then, and I would not be among those rightly guided. I will rule on this matter according to the judgment of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ," or he said, "the ruling of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was as follows," as Sufyan put it. "The daughter receives half, the son's daughter receives a sixth, and whatever remains goes to the sister."

جاء رجل إلى أبي موسى وسلمان بن ربيعة فسألهما عن ابنة وابنة ابن وأخت فقالا للبنت النصف وللأخت النصف وأت عبد الله فإنه سيتابعنا فأتى عبد الله فأخبره فقال قد ضللت إذا وما أنا من المهتدين لأقضين فيها بقضاء رسول الله ﷺ أو قال قضاء رسول الله ﷺ كذا قال سفيان للبنت النصف ولابنة الابن السدس وما بقي فللأخت
